New Need for Speed revealed
NFS Most Wanted to hurtle on to consoles and handhelds this November
After it was that EA is working on a new game in the Need for Speed series entitled Most Wanted, the gaming giant has today confirmed the first details of the latest in its hugely successful street-racing series.
Most Wanted is currently being developed by EA Canada and, we're told, combines "the thrill of illicit street racing and tuner customisation with the intensity of strategic police pursuits that rival any Hollywood-style chase scene".
Due for release in November, the game will be available for a startling range of platforms: PS2, Xbox, Gamecube, Nintendo DS, Game Boy Advance, PSP and PC. Enigmatically, EA has also confirmed that the title will be available for "a next-generation console". So that'll be Xbox 2, then.
The game is based around players building up a 'rap sheet' and (ahem) street cred to move their way up a black list to become the most wanted racer on the streets. Hence the name. You see?
"Out-race your opponents, evade cops and exploit the open world in Need for Speed Most Wanted. Street racing doesn't get any better than this," reckons Larry LaPierre, senior producer at EA Canada. Although he would say that.
Need for Speed Most Wanted will be available on pretty much every platform you can think of from November
