New poster for Seeking A Friend For The End Of The World
Steve Carell and Keira Knightley make an unlikely couple
A first poster has debuted for quirky apocalypse comedy Seeking A Friend For The End Of The World , with Steve Carell and Keira Knightley seeking solace in friendship as a massive asteroid looms large.
The film casts Knightley and Carell as a pair of loners who form a connection during humanity’s last days. As they find themselves growing closer, things look a little brighter for them, if not for the species as a whole!
The story begins with Carell’s wife running out on him in a panic. Receiving a letter from his high-school sweetheart saying she wants to be with him at zero-hour, he sets out on a road trip to rejoin her. However, his neighbour (Knightley) ends up coming along for the ride, which complicates matters somewhat…
The new poster sums up the charm of the film’s oddball premise perfectly, with Carell looking buttoned down and awkward opposite Knightley’s bright-eyed girlishness. And there’s a cute dog, which always helps.
The film is the directorial debut from Nick And Norah’s Infinite Playlist writer Lorene Scafaria, and also stars the likes of Adam Brody, Patton Oswalt and Melanie Lynskey.
Like your romances cutesy, but with the looming prospect of imminent death thrown in to spice things up? Then this could be the one for you. Seeking A Friend For The End Of The World is released in the US on 22 June 2012, with a UK release date yet to be confirmed.
