New Retro City Rampage trailer reminds us of every NES game in existence

In GamesRadar’s dark, cynical hearts, we have endless love for all the things we loved in our childhoods. Stuff like Full House, snap bracelets and tonsillitis all are bright spots in our collective memories. As is the NES, no matter if the games were unforgettable classics like Super Mario or garbage like the first TMNT game. Memories like those are stirred by games like Retro City Rampage, the long in development downloadable. Check out this new trailer and see if you aren’t similarly warmed up.

Retro City Rampage, an indie take on GTA via 8-bit goodness, has long been in development, but the XBLA version seems to be nearly ready. In fact, we’re pretty sure that 2/20/12 date at the end indicates the day we might finally know when the game comes out. That or the dev will release another tempting slice of nostalgia-tinged gameplay in video form. That wouldn’t be so bad either.

If you’re looking for more info on the game, watch this older trailer and try to count all the references, if you have the encyclopedic knowledge of the Nintendo Entertainment System to pull it off.
