New Star Wars: Rogue One images show off Deathtroopers and more

This week has brought us a lot of exciting news on Star Wars: Rogue One, not least of which is confirmation that Darth Vader - and James Earl Jones with him - will be returning to cinema screens. Now Entertainment Weekly has unveiled 16 new images from the film, and you can check them out below...

The images gives us a better look at the all-black Deathtroopers - one of whom is holding a miniature stormtrooper that apparently has "special significance" to the story - in addition to new shots of Ben Mendelsohn's Director Orson Krennic, Felicity Jones' Jyn Erso, and more.

There's still no sign of Darth Vader here though, and it will be interesting to see how Disney decide to tease the Sith Lord's return. With a second trailer surely on the horizon, I'd be surprised if we didn't at least hear the villain's iconic heavy breathing sooner rather than later.

Directed by Gareth Edwards and starring Felicity Jones, Diego Luna, Ben Mendelsohn, Forest Whitaker, and Alan Tudyk, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is scheduled to open in UK and US cinemas on December 16, 2016.
