New Independence Day 2 synopsis: 'humanity still unprepared for alien threat'
After years of waiting, Independence Day 2 is now looming on the horizon, with a new synopsis appearing on the web to outline just what we can expect from the forthcoming sequel. Intergalactic carnage, in a nutshell…
"After Independence Day redefined the event movie genre," begins the official blurb, "the next epic chapter delivers global catastrophe on an unimaginable scale. Using recovered alien technology, the nations of Earth have collaborated on an immense defence program to protect the planet. But nothing can prepare us for the aliens’ advanced and unprecedented force. Only the ingenuity of a few brave men and women can bring our world back from the brink of extinction."
Those pesky aliens just won't take no for an answer, will they? Expect a multitude of explosions before somebody steps into Will Smith's sizeable shoes and saves the day in heroic style. Directed by Roland Emmerich and co-starring Maika Monroe, Liam Hemsworth, Bill Pullman and Jeff Goldblum, Independence Day 2 will open in the UK and US on 24 June 2016.
