A new trailer has appeared online for True Detective season 2, and it’s an absolute cracker. While the first trailer was effectively a montage of the primary cast looking mean and moody, there’s a lot more dialogue this time around, and fans of hard-boiled, noirish one-liners are in for a bit of a treat…
“My strong suspicion is we get the world we deserve,” sighs Colin Farrell’s jaded detective, demonstrating that the show’s outlook remains as cynical as ever. At least Vince Vaughn’s criminal kingpin has come to terms with it, matter of factly remarking that “sometimes your worst self is your best self”. Probably before doing something criminal.

The whole thing looks fantastic, but special mention should go to Rachel McAdams, who comes across as impossibly badass here. You wouldn’t want to take her on in a knife fight…
Co-starring Taylor Kitsch and Kelly Reilly, True Detective will hit US screens on 21 June 2015 and will air in the UK the following day.
