A new incarnation of everybody's favourite Slayer could be coming to the big screen, reports suggest today.
Roy Lee and Doug Davison of Vertigo Entertainment are supposedly working with the director of the original 1992 movie Fran Rubel Kuzui and her husband Kaz Kuzui on a remake or relaunch.
That's not a sequel, prequel or continuation of the series. And it wouldn't use supporting characters like Willow or Spike. And although they haven't ruled out talking with him at some point, Joss Whedon isn't necessarily involved. Boo.
Kuzui Enterprises has held onto the rights since day one, when Fran Rubel Kuzui discovered a script from then-unknown Whedon. At the moment the people involved are meeting with writers and discussing proposals, with no studio on board yet. We know each generation has its own Slayer to protect it, so perhaps the idea would be to make a blockbuster film with new characters that could spin off into a new, rebooted franchise.
