Red Dwarf: Back to Earth is a brand new two-part story, premiering on Friday 10 April at 9pm on UK channel Dave.
It will be followed by another episode (Red Dwarf: Unplugged), which will feature the cast with no sets, no special effects and no autocue. Then the Easter weekend will be rounded off with Red Dwarf: the Making of Back to Earth, a behind-the-scenes piece from the new production.
The Red Dwarf: Back to Earth summary runs thus: "When Lister’s busy day of annoying Rimmer is interrupted by a monstrous attack, it’s pretty much business as usual – until a shock development throws Rimmer, Lister, Cat and Kryten back to planet Earth…" For eight series – a total of 52 episodes – Dave Lister wanted to return to his home planet. Now it seems that at last he'll get his wish!
Written and directed by Red Dwarf co-creator Doug Naylor, it will star the original cast and will begin shooting in earnest in February. Will you be tuning in? We spoke to actor Robert Llewellyn here about the return of the series, which was last seen on our screens a decade ago.
