Next Friday follows on two years from the events of Cube's modest hit Friday, with slacker Craig (Cube) moving from LA to the relative safety of the `burbs, living with his millionaire Uncle Elroy. The living should be easy, but after some herbal refreshment, a botched armed robbery and a run in with the local homeboys, things get a little out of hand.
Unfortunately, this sequel comes across as a lame Cheech and Chong imitation, with a penchant for Bottom-like faeces humour. Witherspoon shines as Craig's dog-catching Dad, but for every laugh comes two duds.
Next Friday is a second-rate and lazy duplicate of the far superior original, although it's bound to - - and hardly deserves to - - find its audience among fans of the first movie.
