Next week to see $100 price cut for PS3?
PS3 to drop to $499 in the US as of July 12, claims report - but Sony says there are no plans to cut the console's price
Rumors are suggesting that Sony is to slash $100 off PS3's price tag in the States next week, just as the company says once again that there are currently no plans to cut the console's price.
GameDaily Biz claims to have received confirmation from retail sources that the new console will be dropped in price to $499 as of July 12 retail-wide.
Prior to this,a scan of a promotional sales flyer purportedly from consumer electronics retailer Circuit City whizzed around the internet listing the console at $499.99.
Eyes are now turning to E3 for an official announcement from Sony.
However, chucking water on the rumor fires, Sony president Ryoji Chubachi told Reuters today that "At present we have no plans" to slash PS3's price.
