Nicholas Cage to star in John McTiernans Red Squad
The Die Hard director is back with a Vengeance...
Nicholas Cage is attached to John McTiernan’s first post-prison film, Red Squad .
The legendary action director ( Die Hard, Predator, Last Action Hero, DIE HARD …) spent 12-months last year in prison after getting mixed up in a shady wiretapping affair with racketeering PI Anthony Pellicano.
Released in February, McTiernan has been busy prepping his comeback. Needless to say, it’s not a prison movie…
Lining up a sequel to his 1999 heist flick, The Thomas Crown Affair (something about Alexander The Great’s missing lions turning up at auction), his first port of call is drug war actioner starring Nic Cage.
Sounding suspiciously like The Last Stand , Red Squad is about a band of mercs who face off against a drug lord in a Mexican border town. Everything’s not quite set yet though – with former inmate No. 43029-112 still technically bankrupt…
After Hollywood friends Samuel L Jackson, Alec Baldwin and Brad Bird supported a “Free John McTiernan” Facebook page whilst he was inside, here’s hoping they lend him a hand now to get Red Squad rolling soon.
