Nicholas Hoult gets slash happy in new trailer for Kill Your Friends
A new trailer has landed online for Kill Your Friends, Owen Harris’s adaptation of John Niven’s pitch-black comedy in which Nicholas Hoult attempts to keep his head above water in the cut-throat world of the music industry. And if he actually has to cut a few throats along the way, so be it…
Hoult plays Steven Stelfox, a sociopathic record exec navigating the ‘90s Britpop scene by killing off his rivals. Think of him as Patrick Bateman with a record collection full of Blur and Supergrass rather than Huey Lewis and The News.

The comparisons with American Psycho are unavoidable, from Hoult’s wolfish grin to the blood-spattered satire of the script. Whether it can plough its own furrow without feeling derivative remains to be seen, but Hoult certainly makes for a compelling lead. Co-starring James Cordon, Rosanna Arquette and Ed Skrein, Kill Your Friends will open in the UK on November 6 2015 with a US date to be confirmed.
