A new Nier game is in development at Square Enix, the company revealed during its E3 press conference today. The cult classic JRPG original took place in a decaying world, where titular character Nier sought a cure for his sick daughter. Nier was joined by characters such as the intersex, demon-possessed Kaine and a boy whose gaze petrifies anyone he sees named Emil. It was … well, kinda weird, but much-loved by fans.
The new Nier project is in very early development; so early it doesn't even have an official title yet. Square Enix teased that more information would be coming this fall. For now, we only know the pedigree of the creators: Atsushi Inaba, creator of Viewtiful Joe, Okami and God Hand will produce the mysterious new title.
