Nintendo launches Ambassador eligibility-check tool
Sales picking up for cheaper handheld, reports Ubisoft
Dutifully purchased your 3DS in time for the Ambassador program, but holding your breath waiting for your free games come September? What with the slightly fiddly implementation of the reward program – some users are reporting they didn't receive a confirmation notice, and others are becoming distressed at the lack of any continued reassurance on the eShop – Nintendo has launched a way to check your status online. Simply proceed to the company's confirmation page, input your serial number and breathe easy – or find a problem, freak the hell out and keep reading for some troubleshooting steps. Then bask in the satisfaction that your efforts have lifted the 3DS' sales from “dire” into “satisfying to some”!
Above: Here is your serial number. Only yours will have different digits
It's being reported that some users are having trouble with Nintendo's eligibility-check tool – though the company stresses you need to include the boxed digit at the end of the serial number, try re-entering the number without the digit if you don't see a confirmation first time round. If, on the other hand, you haven't even been able to access the eShop from your device, give Nintendo a call on 1-800-255-3700 and tell them we sent you (which probably won't make a difference, but haven't you always wanted to say that?).
All that business being over with, some good news in the form of Ubisoft's European report that it's selling eight times as much 3DS software now as it was before the price-drop. Last week, it was reported that the price cut saw the handheld enjoy its strongest Japanese sales since launch weekend; Ubisoft's Geoffrey Sardin says the company is “very pleased” with the dramatic increase in game sales over the last week. Wouldn't you be?
