Defining moment: At the time, a boss battle in a karting game seemed like a great idea, and none were more difficult than the final showdown with Wizpig – a three-lap race that saw you dodging bouncing boulders and incessant laser fire while trying to beat a rocket-mounted, romper-suited pork chop to the finish line. As was tradition for Rare in those days, only a perfect, fault-free race would see you emerge victorious.
WTF?! Repeated failure of this stage led to the ‘Pig-Rage’ epidemic of 1997, exacerbated by having to watch Wizpig’s disgusting little wiggle at the beginning of every attempt. It’s been scientifically proven that anyone who managed to beat Wizpig is four times more likely to suffer a stroke in later life.
