In the new issue of Total Film magazine, we chat we all the key figures on Prometheus to give you the lowdown on the film that shares DNA with Alien .
With no Ripley in this movie, one of the key questions has been whether or not Noomi Rapace’s character, Elizabeth Shaw, will fill that gap. After all, she is a strong, smart, dark-haired heroine.
“Are there parallels to be drawn?” asked Ridley Scott when we quizzed him. “No, the dynamics are entirely different.”
That answers that then. But Rapace was a little more on-the-fence when we asked her.
“I’d say, yes, there are similarities, though I think my character is a bit more feminine, maybe,” said the Swedish actress. Unlike Ripley though, it’s clear from the get-go that Shaw is the movie’s lead.
“My character and Dr Holloway [ Dark Blue ' s Logan Marshall-Green ] are the ones who discover something on Earth that gives us the last possible piece to go out on this journey,” she revealed. “So, I’m carrying more on a personal level than [ Ripley ] did.”
