Oliver Stone wants Joseph Gordon-Levitt for Edward Snowden biopic
Star has been offered the role
The wheels are beginning to turn on Oliver Stone’s forthcoming biopic of NSA whistleblower Edward Snowden, with Joseph Gordon-Levitt apparently in the frame for the lead role.
According to Variety , Stone has earmarked Gordon-Levitt as the perfect candidate to play Snowden, and has gone as far as to officially offer him the part.
The report goes on to stress that the offer has not been accepted at this stage, but does say that Gordon-Levitt has entered negotiations to join the film, entitled The Snowden Files .
The film will be based on Time Of The Octopus , the memoir of Snowden’s lawyer Anatoly Kucherena, with Stone set to write and direct the project.
Should Gordon-Levitt sign on the dotted line, production could possibly begin as soon as this winter, although no release date has been confirmed as yet…
