Orcs Must Die! Multiplayer confirmed for newly-revealed sequel
OMD!2 gets new co-op, upgrade system and trailer
Robot Entertainment, publisher of last year's tower-defense genre-bender Orcs Must Die!, has just announced it's preparing the game's sequel for release later this year. Orcs Must Die! 2 will bump up the offensive and defensive items available to players, overhaul the game's upgrade system, and add a second playable character, the Sorceress, for co-op runs through the sequel's new campaign mode.
The original Orcs Must Die! made our list of the best downloadable games of 2011, and the sequel looks to contain plenty of potential improvements on its predecessor. The game's so far only been confirmed for PC (Robot says the game's console port didn't kill enough orcs to justify a sequel), and while it's not due for release until this Summer, it'll be playable at this weekend's PAX East in Boston. To make sure you have orcs to kill between now and the sequel's release, Robot Entertainment promises the second game will contain exclusive unlocks for owners of both titles.
