Painkiller Hell & Damnation coming October 31
Halloween release for remake of Painkiller and expansion Battle out of Hell
Legends say the barrier between this world and the afterlife is weakest on Halloween, so it's a logical time to plunge into Purgatory with Painkiller Hell & Damnation. The remake of the 2004 over-the-top shooter and its expansion Battle out of Hell will arrive on October 31 on PC, publisher Nordic Games announced today.
The new version of the game developed by The Farm 51 boasts updated visuals, a full co-op campaign and other new modes, and updated weapons and enemies. The version releasing on Halloween is "uncut," with a regular edition for $20 and limited edition including an artbook and in-game items for $30. A censored version of the game will land on PC, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360 on January 22, 2013.
No mention was made as to what was cut from the January versions of the game, but given Painkiller's demonic, gory lineage we're guessing it was probably an extended scene at a petting zoo.
