Pair of new images for The Amazing Spider-Man

Now that The Avengers are happily running riot with box office records the world over, Sony Picturers have started pushing what they hope will be the other big Marvel star of the summer, with a pair of new images being released for The Amazing Spider-Man .

It’s the second set of new stills to be released this week, and while the first set focused on a battle-worn Spidey, this latest pair turn their attention towards the creature that did the damage. That’s right, it’s a closer look at the Lizard.

The first image shows a scaly claw clutching on to a camera. On closer look, you’ll see “property of Peter Parker” etched on the back. Does this mean the Lizard becomes aware of Spidey’s real identity? It could well be…

The second image is perhaps more exciting, particularly for those fanboys who had expressed displeasure at the Lizard’s general appearance. Having largely been seen in the buff, this new image finally shows the Lizard in the torn medical coat in which he more frequently appears in the comic-books.

This is presumably a shot taken from just after his initial transformation, but it’s nice to see it included in any case. Going by the rest of the footage we’ve seen, however, it’s not an accessory that lasts the course.

You can see Curt Connors’ alter-ego in action when The Amazing Spider-Man opens in the UK on 4 July 2012.
