A black comedy set in a Jewish retirement home, Paradise Grove stars veteran Brit character actor Ron Moody (Fagin in 1968's all-singin' Oliver!) as Izzie, an 80-year-old bloke getting pretty desperate to die. So desperate, in fact, that he asks his grandson Keith (Leyland O'Brien) to nudge him towards the Grim Reaper... Writer/director Charles Harris delivers an intriguing set-up and Moody's quietly impressive, but the script's too focused on delivering bumpersticker-style gags and tired philosophy.
