Paul Dano stars in trailer for Brian Wilson biopic Love & Mercy
A new trailer has appeared online for Love & Mercy, Bill Pohlad’s biopic of Brian Wilson, founder member of the Beach Boys, played here by both Paul Dano and John Cusack.
The film is split into two distinct sections, the first of which see Dano play Wilson during the recording of seminal album Pet Sounds. The second half then picks up with Cusack’s Wilson in later life, struggling with mental illness and increasingly controlled by domineering manager Paul Giamatti.

The film has scored rave reviews from its various festival screenings, with Dano and Cusack coming in for particular praise. Watch out too for Elizabeth Banks’ touching performance as the woman who managed to bring Wilson out of his reclusive state during his later years.
Directed by Pohlad and co-starring Jake Abel, Love & Mercy will open in the US on 5 June 2015. A UK release date has yet to be confirmed.
