Penelope Cruz signs on for Zoolander 2
Production on long-awaited comedy sequel Zoolander 2 seems to be building up a head of steam, with Deadline reporting that Penelope Cruz has signed on to join the cast.
With Ben Stiller having been trying to get this one off the ground for some time now, it has seemed as though a Zoolander sequel might just be a pipe dream, but the hiring of Cruz would suggest that the wheels are officially in motion over at Paramount.
Justin Theroux recently confirmed that he has been working on a script with Stiller, while Will Ferrell also revealed that the villainous Mugatu would be making a return for the sequel.
Theroux had also been expected to direct the film, only for commitments to his TV show, The Leftovers, to throw a spanner in the works. It is now thought that Stiller will take charge behind the camera…
No official release date has been confirmed by the studio as yet, but with the casting process seeming to have clanked into gear, expect that to change sooner rather than later.
