PES 2008 - spot the evolution
Why vanity shots can't do our favourite footie game justice
Monday 18 June 2007
The sound of excited men could be heard up and down the country this morning as Konami officially announced Pro Evolution Soccer 2008, which will be shimmying its way to PC, PS2, PS3, Xbox 360, DS and PSP sometime in the Autumn. Shoot your mousehere for a look at the first images.
Changes touted for the latest version include: enhanced AI which uses a fancy sounding system called 'Teamvision' to improve off-the-ball movement; tighter control for dribbling; a wider selection of options for set-pieces and, for the top-end versions, an extensive Edit mode as well as all the high-def detail your eyes can handle.
And how does PES 2008 look compared to the cosmetically approved preview images released for previous games in the series? Well, we think they all look pretty much the same, but why don't you take a look back at six years of PES vanity shots below and see if you can spot the 'evolution'...
Of course, it goes without saying thatevery new PES always brings a host of subtle refinements to the gameplay and screenshots simply can't reflect those changes - we hope to get an altogether better idea of the improvements made when we see PES 2008 at next month's E3. We're confident it's going to be the best Pro Evo ever.
