Peter Jackson to begin work on Tintin sequel next year
Mo-cap filming to begin in 2013
Despite having made a rod for his own back by stretching The Hobbit from two films to three, Peter Jackson still has other projects in the pipeline - most notably directing a sequel to The Adventures Of Tintin .
And according to the director, work on that project is set to begin as soon as next year. Jackson has revealed that motion-capture filming is set to begin next year, just as soon as his hectic Hobbit schedule frees him up a bit.
Once the basic mo-cap footage has been filmed, WETA Digital will have the nuts and bolts they need to construct the bones of the film in post-production. It’s that latter stage that is time-consuming, but the filming itself could be wrapped up in a matter of weeks.
Plot details surrounding the sequel are scarce, although we do know that childrens’ author Anthony Horowitz was hired to draft the script, which is likely to draw upon the famous stories Prisoners Of The Sun and The Calculus Affair .
Jackson is hopeful that the film will arrive in time for a 2015 release date, all being well. And given what’s happening with The Hobbit , we wouldn’t be surprised to see it in HFR either…
So, directing Tintin alongside three Hobbit films... PJ's presumably not planning on holidaying (or sleeping) anytime soon.
