Pete's Dragon remake adds Wes Bentley and Karl Urban
Filming has begun on Disney's update of family classic Pete's Dragon, while Wes Bentley and Karl Urban have also been added to the cast.
The two new additions will join an impressively starry lineup that already includes the likes of Robert Redford, Bryce Dallas Howard and Oona Laurence.
The film will mix live-action with CGI animation (that'll be the dragon then), with cameras currently rolling in New Zealand under the stewardship of director David Lowery.
For those unfamiliar with the 1977 original, the new film will follow the bond that develops between orphaned 10-year-old, Pete, and his best pal Elliott. Elliott being a dragon, naturally.
Filming is set to move north from Wellington to Rotorua, before wrapping up on the South Island ahead of a US release date of 12 August 2016. A UK date has yet to be confirmed.
