Peyton Reed in talks to direct Ant-Man and The Wasp
With the sequel to Ant-Man officially confirmed and newly titled Ant-Man and The Wasp, Marvel has turned its focus to securing a director. According to THR, Peyton Reed is top of the studio’s list, having done such a sterling work on the first film.
Amid all the wailing and gnashing of teeth that greeted Edgar Wright’s sudden departure from the project, Reed quietly picked up the pieces and set about delivering a superhero film that fit into Marvel’s wider universe, while also feeling refreshingly different. While fans were understandably disappointed not to see Wright’s vision for the film, the studio was clearly impressed enough to give Reed a second crack of the whip.
The first film eventually raked in $455 million worldwide, which was no guarantee, given the property’s lesser-known status in comparison with The Avengers. Little is known about the plot to the follow-up, but what we do know is that it will arrive on July 6 2018, with Paul Rudd and Evangeline Lilly sharing top billing in the title roles.
