Pitch Perfect 3 on the way - but who is staying, and who is going?
The aca-franchise knows no bounds! With the second film in the Pitch Perfect series having stormed the global box office, it will likely come as no surprise to learn that Universal has given the green light to a third film in the series.
According to THR, Kay Cannon is in negotiations to pen the script, having already written the first two films, while Elizabeth Banks is also likely to return in some capacity. However, it remains to be seen whether Anna Kendrick or Rebel Wilson will reprise their roles, as Universal does not have options on them beyond the second film.
The studio has already begun to plan for that contingency by positioning Hailee Steinfeld’s character as a potential baton-carrier for the franchise going forwards. That said, Kendrick and Wilson would leave substantial shoes to fill… No release date has been announced as yet.
