Pixar releases first poster for Monsters, Inc. re-release

Monster’s Inc. is returning to cinemas with a shiny 3D lick of paint, and in order to celebrate, Pixar has released an ace new one-sheet featuring everyone’s favourite one-eyed critter, Mike.

The new poster shows Mike struggling to appreciate the benefits of the stereoscopic 3D effect, blessed as he is with just the one peeper. Not to mention the absence of ears to rest those specs upon...

Released back in 2001, Monsters, Inc. tells the story of Mike and Sulley, a pair of employees at the titular company, which harnesses the screams of terrified youngsters and converts them into a renewable source of power.

All is going well, with Sulley basking in his position as the company’s top scare-merchant, until a little girl named Boo crosses over into their world, and all hell breaks loose.

A success at the cinema, the film really came into its own in the home-entertainment market, where it shifted a staggering 11 million DVD and VHS units in the very first week of release.

Pixar will be hoping it performs similarly well when the film re-opens in the UK on 18 January 2013, while a long-awaited sequel, Monsters University , follows on 12 July 2013. Until then, you can check out the new poster below...
