Pixar tease
A new burst of Cars is finally online…
And they’re off! Again. After attaching the first trailer for their new film Cars to The Incredibles last year, Pixar has finally put some fresh footage online. Well, 45 seconds’ worth, anyway.
The new material mostly takes the form of a spoof car ad, and shows off some of the sexy new animation techniques the company has been developing, as well as offering a cheeky nod to their award-grabbing reputation.
The storyline of Cars follows Lightning McQueen, a “driven” (har har) race car who discovers that life is about the journey, not the finish line, when he finds himself unexpectedly detoured in the sleepy Route 66 town of Radiator Springs. McQueen gets to know the town’s offbeat characters - who help him realise that there are more important things than trophies, fame and sponsorship. Owen Wilson and Paul Newman are among the voices, and this marks the return of Pixar creative honcho John Lasseter to the director’s chair.
But that hasn’t stopped negative rumblings from kicking up dust, with some naysayers insisting Cars will end Pixar’s winning streak. Hard to tell from this blink-and-you’ll-miss-it tease, but nothing has yet grabbed us the way sneak peeks at Finding Nemo or Monsters Inc managed. Still, have a look for yourself here.
