Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare 2 will spread its seeds to PS4, Xbox One and PC in spring 2016, EA has announced. In this 24-player multiplayer shootout sequel, zombies have won the war against the pollinated pests planted in their way, and taken over Suburbia - now Zomburbia, of course.
The plants have become a rebel force in this dead dystopia, enlisting the help of new characters such as Citron, a cybernetic orange from the future. Meanwhile, the zombies have bolstered their ranks with new characters as well, including Super Brainz, an undead wannabe '80s action star. All accounted for, there will be a six new characters. Combined with the existing armies, this will result in a total of more than 100 playable character variants. Don't worry about having to start from scratch on unlocking such a roster, though; players of the original Garden Warfare will be able to transfer their characters to the sequel.
Aspiring wartime gardeners and/or zombie apocalypse initiators will be able to wage war across 12 new maps in online multiplayer, local split-screen and, in a new mode for the series, single-player. Lastly, EA has promised free content updates to keep Garden Warfare 2's soil rich for growing players.
