Play as an artichoke that shoots tomatoes in Skylanders Trap Team
Another toy-collecting addiction relapse
There are already over 100 total Skylanders in the current collection of Skylanders games, including the standard characters, massive Giants, and the Swap Force mix and match toys. But developer Toys for Bob isn't stopping there and has come up with some brand new concepts to change up the series gameplay. First, in Skylanders Trap Team, you can now collect Skyland's version of prison guards. Yeah, that's right. But not the sit-on-your-ass, eat-doughnuts-all-day kinds of guards, more like prism weapon-wielding, badass monster guards.
The new Trap Masters each have their own crystal weapons and have upgradable movesets and abilities like every other character in the series. The physical Trap Team figures themselves are about the size of the Giants toys (double the height of the standard Skylanders) and will most likely be along the same price point as the other premium Skylanders toys.
Series villain Kaos is running amok once again and has set all of the criminals of Skylands free in a massive jail break--and you'll encounter them along your journey. Each villain has wacky personalities and interesting abilities, like the chompy summoning Chompy Master or the Dreadnought boss that drives around a massive chainsaw machine. Along with the new characters (which will total about 30-ish) players will be able to collect 40 villains in the game (whether the villains will actually become figures is still in flux). Once you defeat a villain in battle you can trap them in a physical prism called a Traptanium trap that inserts into the Trap Team portal. When they are captured, you can switch between the active villain and your Skylander at any time, making for a complex mix of abilities you'll have at your disposal.
Check out the following slides for more information and images.
When you trap a villain in a prism they talk to you through the new Trap Team portal speaker.
Each trap piece can hold one villain at a time, but you can swap out the villain it holds.
Traps are element based, so only a specific elemental trap can capture a villain of the same element type.
There will also be plenty of standard Skylanders to collect.
Food Fight is an artichoke that shoots tomatoes, and he's awesome.
