Playing PSP games on Vita: Sony shows how
275-strong backlog of Vita-approved titles goes live
While Sony has saved you the headache of paying to port your UMD-based PSP games over to Vita, the company's adamant that backwards-compatibility remains a selling point for the system. To demonstrate this, the PlayStation Blog has a lengthy list of PSP titles and PlayStation Minis already set up for Vita download.
If the title you want is a PlayStation Store item, you'll be given the option at purchase to download it to Vita via WiFi – or re-download it from the Store's Download List if you've already paid. If it's sitting on your PS3, however, you'll be connecting via USB and heading to PSV's Content Manager section to port the title over to the Vita's internal memory.
Here's Sony's list of the titles currently ready for Vita download. The company stresses that updates to the list will be frequent and imminent. If your favorite game isn't on the list, Sony doesn't want you panicking... but then, a good Internet Panic is exactly what would make this week go by faster, so we say go right ahead and freak out. Speaking of freak outs, be ready for one long list of games:
