Plot details emerge for Leprechaun reboot
Guess what? It’s going “darker”
One of the more bizarre news stories of last year was the announcement that WWE Studios would be rebooting the Leprechaun franchise, with pint-sized wrestling star Dylan “Hornswoggle” Postl in the title role.
We haven’t heard much about the project since, but WWE Studios President Michael Luisi has been talking about what we can expect from the film, now titled Leprechaun: Origins .
“The tone is going to be a little darker,” he told CraveOnline . “A little more traditional horror than the Warwick Davis ones that people remember. [ We're ] trying to find a way to please fans of that genre but, at the same time, this is really being played for scares."
WWE Studios has previous with the horror genre, with towering wrestler Kane having starred in the underwhelming See No Evil . That said, we can’t help feeling this one might be slightly misjudged…
No director has been announced as yet, but Harris Wilkinson is writing the screenplay, with a release date yet to be confirmed. We’ll be right here, on the edge of our seats.
