PokeWalkthrough
The Pokemon trainer's definitive guide to the sights and wildlife of Sinnoh
Things aren’t quite right in Veilstone City. Sure, you’ve got Sinnoh’s biggest department store that sells almost everything you could ever want and then some, but there’s also a very shady casino operation that might make one a bit suspicious. Not to mention the gigantic Team Galactic headquarters looming large above the streets…
But what we’re really here for is the Veilstone Gym, home of Maylene and her martial-arts masters, so let’s worry about that before we go sightseeing. Heal up at the Pokemon Center (as you’re probably hurting really bad by now), then head to the southwestern part of the city.
The gym contains a sliding puzzle here which needs to be solved – check out our movie to see how it’s done. Most of the encounters here are near-unavoidable, so have a bunch of Psychic- and Flying- types in your party and ready to go to handle them. Maylene herself awaits at the end.
Once that’s all over and done with, your buddy’s happy, and you’ll be able to sneak into the Galactic warehouse to get HM02, Fly. This HM isn’t required to finish the game, but it is extremely useful, as it allows you to teleport to any town or city you have already been to.
Things have quieted down a bit, so you might as well enjoy what Veilstone has to offer. You can visit the Game Corner, which is actually a casino. You’ll first need to get the Coin Case, which a clown inside one of the houses is holding. Play his guessing game until you win the item from him. You can then buy casino credits with money, and play the slots for hours while you weep for your misspent, corrupted youth. Earn enough credits and you can go next door and exchange them for items and TMs.
There’s also the Veilstone Department Store, which has almost everything you could possibly want. Vitamins? Got ‘em. Pokeballs of every shape and size? You betcha. Temporary battle boost items? You’d better believe it. TMs? They’ll cost you an arm and a leg, but they’re here. Just make sure to bring cash and lots of it, because much of this stuff is stupidly expensive. You can also get the Counter for your Poketch by speaking with the woman at the second floor sales counter. Another thing of note: The vending machines on the top floor sell inexpensive drinks that can restore the HP of pokemon. They’re cheaper than potions and don’t decrease the happiness level of your pokes, so it wouldn’t hurt to buy a whole bunch for future adventuring.
Finally, there’s a residence with a woman who offers massages. Get your mind out of the gutter, guys, this lady actually is a licensed pokemon massage therapist. Give a poke over to her for a quick massage and it’ll boost its happiness level. You can ask for a massage once a day, so come back often.
