PokeWalkthrough
The Pokemon trainer's definitive guide to the sights and wildlife of Sinnoh
At last, civilization! Snowpoint City offers the usual amenities – a Pokemon Center and Pokemart – along with its very own Gym. There’s a temple of some sorts up north that’s off-limits (for now) and a girl who wants to trade a Haunter for a Medicham. The trade is well worth it, some Medichams are common around here and the Haunter comes carrying an Everstone, which can be useful in pokemon breeding.
Once you’ve recovered sufficiently, head towards the Snowpoint Gym.
Gym 7 has what may be Pokemon D/P's most annoying puzzle, involving sliding on ice to clear a path to the Gym Leader. To save you much frustration and tears, we’ve filmed the solution to this puzzle for you. You’ll be interrupted by trainers along the way, so don’t lose track of where you’re going. If you need to reset the puzzle, pop in and out of the Gym entrance and everything will revert to its original state, but the trainers you fought won’t bother to challenge you again.
The trainers here use a mix of Ice and Water pokemon. There’s no one particular type that will be effective against both of these, so bring a good mix of strong Pokemon with you. Fire and Fighting types can take care of the Ice pokemon, while Grass and Electric pokemon can clean up the Water types. A strong Electric poke might be the best all-around combatant for this arena. (Just watch out for Quagsire!)
Gym leader Candice’s pokemon, however, are all strongly Ice-based. The sole exception is Medicham, who will drive you every bit as crazy as it did in the fields. If any of your current team has Ghost skills, make heavy use of them to dispose of Medicham ASAP. The rest of Candice’s team have very pronounced weaknesses, and are even possible to one-hit-faint if your pokemon are strong enough. Snover and Abomasnow are both very weak to Fire skills, and Sneasel falls quickly to a strong fighter.
We’ve conquered our seventh gym, and now we’ve only got one more badge left to go! We’ve also got a new TM and the ability to use Rock Climb. Remember all those items you saw sitting up on ledges you couldn’t reach? It’s time to get them all! We’ve got a movie showing all the items you can collect using Rock Climb. Check it out.
You can also stop by the Poketch company in Jubilife again for an new application that lets you check the effectiveness of attacks against certain types of Pokemon.
Unfortunately, all is not well. There’s trouble afoot in Sinnoh… big trouble. Stop by the library in Canalave to have a long and meaningful talk with Prof. Rowan, your rival, and his assistant. You’ll hear a lot of important story information, then be rudely interrupted by an earthquake. You’ll hear the bad news when you step outside. Lake Valour’s been drained!
