Poor man's games
Sort of the same, but somehow worse... We investigate the low-cost versions of our favorite games
True Crime is the Poor man's Grand Theft Auto
Epitomizing the "poor man's game," True Crime was decent enough in its own right, but always three steps behind in every facet of the game it desperately wanted to be. The missions were boring and repetitive, the characters unlikeable, the monotonous Manhattan streets lacked personality and it failed completely in depth and quality of soundtrack.
And how did its creator try toget in an element of originality? Beat-'em-up side missions where you always seemed to end up dueling with frozen chickens, and eccentric "fantasy" battles that inexplicably involved fire-breathing dragons. The GTA series was safe.
