Portal 2 pushed to the week of April 18, 2011 in 'the shortest delay in Valve's proud tradition of delays'
The world may end as a result, but we'd rather survive the apocalypse than live without Portal 2
Valve announced today that Portal 2 will be released the week of April 18, 2011, two months after originally expected (er, most recently expected). In typical Valve fashion, the press release mocked the developer's history of unmet release dates, calling this "the shortest delay in Valve's proud tradition of delays."
Update: Valve hastold Shacknewsthat the exact dates are April 20 in North America, and April 22 in Europe.
According to Valve, the delay also"represents the approaching convergence of Valve Time and Real Time," which "spells doom for humanity" but won't affect Portal 2's new release date. That's cool, as long as we get to play the game before the doom hits us.
Check out our latest preview,a look at the game's co-op mode, to better understand just how long those extra two months of waiting are going to feel.
