Oh the times, they are a-changing. We've already seen how the Power Rangers 2017 movie is trading spandex for armor, and now we've gotten our first look at the new Megazord. The official Power Rangers Twitter recently sent out a photo of an upcoming toy based on the film, and it's… well, it's certainly different:

My initial feeling is that there's way too much grey, and not much separation of the Rangers' individual Zords. I just don't get much sense of this being a giant robot made out of smaller robots and, okay, just look at its feet. In the immortal words of the internet: what are thooooose? Still, this is just a toy, and toys aren't always good representations of what we see on the screen.
We've had a lot of questions and concerns about how Hollywood would adapt the beloved Power Rangers - a corny, colorful TV show that couldn't be any more '90s if it tried - into a modern blockbuster movie. Elizabeth Banks looks more like a Poison Ivy cosplayer than Rita Repulsa, the Rangers' outfits look like a cross between Mass Effect and Iron Man armor, and now we've got this weirdly shaped Megazord.
But hey, at least it's got Bryan Cranston as Zordon.
Directed by Dean Israelite and starring Naomi Scott, Dacre Montgomery, RJ Cyler, Ludi Lin, and Elizabeth Banks, the Power Rangers movie will be released in UK and US cinemas on March 24, 2017.
