Preacher poster and images arrive, teasing unholy debauchery
Fans of Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon's cult comic Preacher have waited a long time to see it hit the small screen. It's a terrific genre comic; bloody, debauched and surprisingly heartfelt at times. So just how will Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg and showrunner Sam Caitlin manage that subtle blend of elements? Now that we're less than a month from the series' debut, AMC is making at least one thing abundantly clear: this sure ain't for kiddies, folks.
The network has debuted a set of new images from the series showcasing the leading cast of characters all engaged in activities that you might not expect from something called Preacher. Drinking, smoking, waving guns about, and then there's Arseface.
Just to get you up to speed, the series revolves around a preacher named Jessie Custer (Dominic Cooper) who becomes enmeshed with a half-angel, half-demon entity from heaven that gives him the ability to make people do whatever he says. Throw in the fact that God is missing, there's always hitmen on his tail, and he's trying to patch things up with ex-girlfriend Tulip (Ruth Negga), and Jessie's got his work cut out for him.
If you've not already watched the trailer, then I'd recommend making that your first port of call before having a look at this bumper crop of pics below.
Co-starring Joseph Gilgun, Jamie Anne Allman, Lucy Griffiths, Euphrates Arthur, W. Earl Brown, Ian Colletti, Jackie Earle Haley and Thomas Barbusca, Preacher airs on AMC May 22 in the US with a UK premiere yet to be announced.
