Prime Day board game deals: FAQs

best Amazon Prime Day deals

When do Prime Day board game deals end?

All the best Prime Day board game deals will finish by tween midnight on October 9, 2024. I say 'the best' because some savings may continue past that date, but they won't be the most tempting offers. In other words? Strike fast if there's something you have your eye on.

Do I need a Prime membership for Prime Day board game deals?

You will need to have a Prime membership to get access to Prime Day board game deals, as the event and its discounts are exclusive to Prime members. While this a sweet perk for those who are already subscribed to Amazon Prime, it is a bit of a bummer for those who aren't.

Of course, you do have alternatives if you still want to save money on your favorite board games. To capitalize on the Prime Day hype, some retailers run similar sales around the same time. If you’re lucky (and keep a close eye out) you might even come across even better deals than those on Amazon. Obviously, getting a free trial of Prime is a helpful workaround too.

Get a free 30-day trial of Prime
You can experience all of the Prime Day goodness without paying a dime thanks to Amazon’s 30-day free trial of Prime. Alongside having access to the best Prime Day board game deals, you’ll also be able to stream Prime Video during your trial.

Even if Prime winds up not being your thing, there’s no problem with backing out. Provided you cancel your subscription before your trial ends, you’ll incur absolutely no cost at all.

Should I wait for Black Friday board game deals instead?

While certain games do hit their lowest ever prices during the November sales, that doesn’t mean it’s not worth checking out Prime Day sales too. While the price drops are less extreme and fewer between than during the annual Black Friday board game deals, you should still see a couple of stand-out deals.

If you do come across a discounted item during Prime Day and aren’t sure if you should hold out until Black Friday for a better price, we recommend referencing its price history using tools like CamelCamelCamel to give you a fuller picture of the sale trends.

What to expect from Prime Day board game deals 2024

Star Wars, Jurassic World, Sky Team, and Dune: Imperium - Uprising board games divided by white lines

There are a wide variety of titles that can wind up included in the selection of Prime Day board game deals, no matter what genre or price range they are. So, whether you like chill puzzle games or prefer to turn your friends against each other with some good ol’ social deduction, you should find a bargain or two worth pursuing.

👪 Family and party games get good deals
While they may go on sale intermittently through the year anyway, the best party board games are particularly strong candidates for good Prime Day discounts. They tend to be on the more inexpensive side to begin with so they make for great little impulse buys. These are great to add to your collection just in time for Fall too, as simpler games are perfect for a bit of post-Thanksgiving dinner playtime with family.

🎲 Hobby games will get good price cuts, but you'll need to go looking for them
Prime Day is a good time to pick up hobby board games (like Spirit Island) because they're known to enjoy bigger price cuts. These reductions may not be as good as Black Friday, and you'll have to look for them individually because Amazon will be flooded with cheap tat during the sale, but they're there if patient bargain-hunters are willing to look.

💲 Watch out for coupons
There were plenty of bonus reductions at Amazon thanks to coupons in 2023, and that's how the retailer got around the competition. Keep an eye out for those tick boxes near the price.

Naturally, Prime Day board game deals aren't the only things worth looking into. The sales event also has a lot of tech at massively reduced prices, including Prime Day laptop deals and Prime Day TV deals. If you want to keep your focus on tabletop though, don't miss the top board games for adults.
