"Project Hell" unveiled by Dead Island dev as next project

The developers behind one of 2011's most surprising hits,Dead Island, announced their next upcoming project today. While it wont necessarily be zombie-themed, Techland has said they don't really care for games with "unicorns and fairies" so we can still reasonably expect it to be a bloody mess of carnage.

The game is tentatively being called Project Hell, and will feature a dark-fantasy setting. It apparently came into being when a Dead Island coder created a mod that allowed the player to freeze zombies in place before hacking them to bits with a two-handed sword. Apparently it was cool enough that they decided to base an entire game around the concept of first-person melee/magic.

You can find more details about the project on its official blog, Sharpenyouraxes.com where they have a few developer blog posts, enemy reveals, concept art galleries, and other content for fans to scope out.

And of course, Techland isn't neglecting their multi-million-selling franchise either. They're still hard at work on Dead Island: Riptide, a standalone expansion.
