Prop man killed on the set of The Kingdom
Crewmember dies in car accident on Jamie Foxx’s new film
It’s the sort of tragedy no filmmaker can predict – one of those random, sad events that happen occasionally. But assistant prop master Nick Papac was involved in a road accident on Saturday when the golf cart-alike ATV he was driving on a cleared motorway in Phoenix, Arizona was involved in a crash with an SUV being used by the film.
Papac was attended by the set paramedics and sent to hospital, but the 25-year-old crewmember died of head injuries a few hours later.
None of the movie’s stars – including Jamie Foxx, Jennifer Garner and Jason Bateman were on set, but the SUV was carrying director Peter Berg. Filming was suspended out of respect on Sunday and won’t now restart until Wednesday. "It is with profound sadness that we confirm Nick's passing," Berg said at a gathering of the film crew on Sunday. "Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family at this time."
