PS2 games on PS3: Who cares?
One of us does, one of us doesn't
"I really don't get what the big deal is with backwards compatibility. Sony isn't telling people to lock away their PS2s the instant they buy a PS3. If it matters that much, simply leave your old Sony machine out, plugged in and ready to go. Then, if you're overcome with a sudden urge to play a PS2 title that isn't backwards compatible on PS3, the solution is just a disc tray away. It really is that easy.
"Sony Europe's president, David Reeves, has said about the issue: "Rather than concentrate on PS2 backwards compatibility, in the future, company resources will be increasingly focused on developing new games and entertainment features exclusively for PS3..." I totally buy that. What gamer wouldn't? Only those with one jaded foot stuck stubbornly in the past and, let's face it, they were never going to be at the front of the PS3 queue on March 23 anyway.
"So what about the argument that we're getting less old games to play than the US of A? Well, for me, it really does not matter a jot because I will never play any PS2 games on PS3. I know this is a fact because: a) I've never played an Xbox game on my 360, b) I've never played a PSone game on my PS2 and c) well, admittedly I've played a Gamecube game on my Wii, but the difference between Nintendo's old and new machines is marginal.
"Wise up, move on and embrace the new generation. Oh, and don't throw out your old consoles."
