PS3 launch: All about PlayStation Store
We browse the aisles in Sony's marketplace
1. Featured items
Whether it's additional content for a game (new maps, big guns, fast cars etc), demos, trailers, PSone titles for PSP, downloadable games... whatever, PlayStation Store's latest stock of what's available is displayed here.
2. View all
On PlayStation Store nothing gets lost in the stock room - if it's available, you'll be able to see it here.
3. Demos
Try before you buy with game demos. These should normally cost absolutely nothing to download. On launch day - that's tomorrow! - there will be demos for all Sony's first-party PS3 launch games available (Resistance: Fall of Man, MotorStorm, Genji, Formula One, Ridge Racer 7). There will also be movie trailers for all of these titles.
4. Downloadable games
Sony's answer to Xbox Live Arcade and Wii's Virtual Console, this is where you can ferry complete games to your PS3. Obviously not as humungoid as full price PS3 games, these titles will offer an alternative selection of cheap and cheerful gaming thrills. It's also where you'll be able to download PSone games for PSP.
5. Shopping details
As well as verifying the browsing user's ID and seeing what items are currently in the shopping cart, this area lets you check your downloads to see what you've already bought and piped to your PS3 from PlayStation Store. You can re-download previously purchased items from here up to five times for free.
