PS4 Slim price and release date announced

The so-called PlayStation 4 Slim is official, and it's coming next week. Sony announced at its PlayStation Meeting event today that the budget-conscious model will arrive on September 15 in 'most regions' and it will cost $299 / £259. Sony didn't confirm a new name for the system, but Slim is as good of a nickname as any.
The new model of PS4 actually leaked weeks ago, despite Sony's best efforts. But it's still good to see that there's a budget-friendly option next to the newly announced PS4 Pro (formerly PS4 Neo). And your new PS4 Slim will still get HDR compatibility, thanks to an upcoming update.

I got a BA in journalism from Central Michigan University - though the best education I received there was from CM Life, its student-run newspaper. Long before that, I started pursuing my degree in video games by bugging my older brother to let me play Zelda on the Super Nintendo. I've previously been a news intern for GameSpot, a news writer for CVG, and now I'm a staff writer here at GamesRadar.
