Quantum Of Solace is top of the US box office
Bond sets a record for himself across the pond
Already a success here and elsewhere in Europe, latest Bond outing Quantum Of Solace has snatched an opening weekend record in America.
Adding $70.4 million from US cinemas, the film is now up to $322 million worldwide with several hefty territories still left to open.
Despite less glowing reviews that Casino Royale, Quantum was the easy winner this week with only Slumdog Millionaire opening up – and that in a very limited, 10-cinema rollout.
Otherwise, the rest of the top 10 changed very little, with Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa taking second place above Role Models, High School Musical 3 and Changeling.
See the full chart below.
- Quantum Of Solace ($704. Million)
- Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa ($36.1 million)
- Role Models ($11.7 million)
- High School Musical 3: Senior Year ($5.8 million)
- Changeling ($4.2 million)
- Zack And Miri Make A Porno ($3.2 million)
- Soul Men ($2.5 million)
- The Secret Life Of Bees ($2.4 million)
- Saw V ($1.7 million)
- The Haunting Of Molly Hartley ($1.6 million)
