Mischievous nine-year-old Ramona (Joey King) has a vivid imagination and tendency to leave chaos in her wake, while teenage sib Beezus (Selena Gomez) is a more grounded, grade-A student.
Adapted from a series of books by Beverly Cleary, the episodic material is better suited to a sitcom format.
Performances are perfectly pleasant, but more of Ramona’s flights of fancy and less lingering on the adult romance would’ve added some oomph.
