Rare Exports director making Home Alone meets Rambo
Exclusive: Heading up new action film
Rare Exports director Jalmari Helander has exclusively revealed to Total Film that his next project will be akin to Home Alone crossed with Rambo .
“I’m writing at the moment,” he tells us of his second feature film, “it will be a totally English language film with a big budget, an action movie. It’s something like Home Alone meets Rambo , it’s going to be a lot of fun.”
So will this be a more family-oriented film than the creepy Christmas lampooning Rare Exports ? Don’t count on it.
“I think it will be quite violent, so no,” Helander says. “Like Home Alone with machine guns.” The Finnish director’s also got some ideas for his cast, but he’s keeping his cards close to his chest.
“Actually yes, but I’m not talking about that now. I don’t want to say anything about that, we’ll see what happens.”
Could we be in home invasion territory, considering the films Helander has referenced? Whatever the director comes up with, if his second film is anywhere near as stylish and smart as Rare Exports , we should be in for quite a ride.
