If I didn't know better, I would not have guessed that the upcoming Ratchet & Clank movie is based on a video game. (That's a good thing, by the way.) We'll have to wait until April 29, 2016 to see how true to Insomniac's vision the animated film will be, but for those not familiar, I daresay this has appeal. A trailer released today gives viewers everything they need to know: who's the hero, what's his goal, who's in his way. It even manages to throw some chuckle-worthy jokes in along the way.
This is definitely kid-friendly material; nothing too high-brow, punctuated by some slapstick humor. But it's also not just a bunch of goofy faces making obnoxious noises, either. Mayhaps that has something to do with appealing to those of us who do remember the original games? Because don't forget, the movie isn't a standalone product - there's also the remake of the original Ratchet & Clank for PS4, which ties in with the movie, coming in June:
